Last week I spent the day in Auckland talking to people and organisations working in Māori justice. ⚖️ ✊
The success of kaupapa Māori organisations in reducing reoffending has been overlooked by the Luxon Government.

The Labour Party wants a transformation of the New Zealand economy - to have wealth created in New Zealand, by New Zealanders, for New Zealanders.

Today we stand up for public services and the hardworking people who keep them running. ✊ ✊
Where would we be without teachers, nurses, doctors and medical staff?!

#BREAKING: Over 15,000 people have signed our open letter calling on Christopher Luxon to bring down health costs.

He’s making it harder to see a doctor and it’s time to act. Add your name at the link below.

The select committee report on the Regulatory Standards Bill is in.
📝166,000 submissions.
❌98.7% opposed.
Yet National are going to continue supporting it.
🗣New Zealand could not have been louder, but Luxon still isn’t listening.

Christchurch City Mission needs our help! They provide 1600 Christmas food parcels for families and people in need through December, but they need boxes! 📦📦📦

OMG the National Party totally screwed up the vote on the Broadcasting Bill. First they didn’t have signed proxies for the conscience vote. Then they didn’t have the 20 members in the house required for a conscience vote - so the vote is a nullity. Politics 101 learn to count !!!

Tracey McLellan MP, Reuben Davidson MP for Christchurch East and I visited Te Maata Waka today to understand more about the support services they offer specifically for youth justice. (They do so much other awesome work but I was there in my capacity as Justice spokesperson).

Shameful.

It's World Rivers day this Sunday, a great reason to get out and enjoy some sunshine. It's free entry, live music (The Eastern) Kai by Ōtākaro Orchard, interactive workshops, kids’ activities, and plenty of opportunities to learn about river care, biodiversity, and community projects

Toni Jarvis received a King’s Service Medal for his advocacy for those abused in state care.
Now, because of a rent increase, he's living in his van.
Remember when Chris Luxon said 'renters will be grateful costs are not being passed on to them.' 🧐🧐

❌Enough is enough.
✊Join me on the March for Pay Equity on Saturday 20th September.
💸National is taking money out of women’s pockets and giving it to landlords and tobacco companies.

The fight continues! ✊✊

Join us this Saturday, 20th September, for the Women’s Day of Action, a community march to honour Kate Sheppard’s fight for Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value and to continue the call for pay equity today.

I'm really interested to watch this - PRIME MINISTER, releasing in cinemas across New Zealand on 25 September 2025. I'm sure it will be an emotional yet inspiring documentary about one of our greatest leaders.

So far the Government has:
❌Halted Pay Equity claims
❌Extended the 90 day trial
❌Implemented real-term minimum wage cuts
❌Repealed Fair Pay Agreements
❌Removed union protections for new workers
❌Cut thousands of public sector jobs
…So I’ve taken the liberty of renaming the Minister’s portfolio.

Lobbying is when interest groups try to influence lawmaking for their benefit.
Sometimes that’s good, and sometimes it’s not.
The key to democratic lobbying is transparency…something the coalition is struggling with.

The Official Information Act provides a legal right to access official information held by government agencies. Or in this case, a legal right to access a blank page. ☹️
