How much *does* it cost to register a food truck annually? $500? $1000? $5000? I have no idea.

Drop in the bucket though compared to operating costs like ingredients and staff.

I doubt the registration fee compares to losing 20% of your customers to poverty.

Typical disingenuous crap.

Stuff clearly not interested in anything even vaguely resembling a real sample of public opinion since they're glazing Bishop the entire article before having the poll.

I'm sure lifting some red tape so people can go and get salmonella easier at their local tuck shop will help these businesses survive the drought created by people flat out not having a dollar left to spend on optionals such as "having a social life" due to the CoC's other policies.

Behind every National boast is a lie of omission.

Paper runs were abusive near-slave labour when I was a kid and that was decades ago. It's only gotten worse since then.

They're weeks away from suggesting literal coal mines for kids.

I'd rather have a magic 8-ball for decisions than this lot. It has the chance of choosing an option that benefits the country. These clowns will always take the one that benefits their overseas masters.

The dumbest part is, farmers already vote for national anyway.

They're burning the planet for votes they already had and were never gonna lose.

"After extensive consultation with murderers, rapists, and other violent offenders, we have come to the conclusion that prison sentences need to be reduced by 50%."

Oh well if it's *farmers* saying it then we clearly have a mandate.

The guys making cheese cost $18, butter $10, and making it so I can't swim in our river 'cos of the cowshit naturally have my best interests at heart.

Let me just check if "opposed to fluoride" is a protected category.

Oh gee darn, looks like no, it isn't.

However, I don't dislike him because of that. I dislike him for what it implies though; science denial, reactionalism, cooker-aligned behaviour.

Politicians don't represent us to power, they represent power to us. They hide, then every 3 years they suddenly show up on billboards, and we pick 'em based on the background colour.

To find what they actually personally stand for (if anything) is a chore.

No wonder people are disengaged.

Don't see why not, everything else is for sale by these shysters.

It's (one of) the right wing election cycle(s). Impoverish people. Poverty causes crime. Say you're tough on crime (AKA lie). Get votes. Impoverish more people.

The kind of people that get out of the car clutching their necks after a nudge in the carpark at 3kph.

I get the feeling the corrupt nats will accelerate their push to privatise everything they can as they know they're on borrowed time now. They are not getting a 2nd term.

Ram everything through under urgency, fuck the whole country up, then blame the left while they sit in opposition. Vile.

Holy shit these people would have trouble tipping water out of a boot with the instructions printed on the heel. Zero independent thought combined with a room temperature IQ (in celsius). Just a mindless puppet.

Snippet from the article stating:
However, some of these responses also included what appeared to be instructions about how to respond.

“We need to focus on core business so feel free to say none,” four candidates replied, before providing the above text about council already doing too much. Those were Auckland Council and Devonport-Takapuna Local Board candidate Helena Roza, Howick Local Board candidate William Goldberg, Waimakariri District Council candidate Nathan Atkins and Waipa District Council candidate Stuart Hylton.

And he's STILL collecting that much for renting his own electorate office to himself, as I understand.

In 2022, protestors hurled bricks, faeces at police & lit fires. Winston Peters said those protestors just wanted to be "heard" & shook their hands.

This week Peters called the mostly peaceful, law abiding Kiwis outside his home "gutless, spineless, [the] worst" protestors #nzpol

We've had this discussion a bunch of times in Hamilton, with the last time being a referendum where the public overwhelmingly (2 to 1) voted to reintroduce it after cookers had convinced (read: screamed at) the council to remove it behind closed doors.

Yes, it's always the cookers.

We really went from "You can have just a little corruption, as a treat" to "All Corruption, All The Time" in record time with this government.

So do we consider this proof that Willis is being groomed to replace Luxon after the inevitable leadership spill?

But that means at least those young people are homeless and starving in small provincial towns, rather than in the big cities where politicians have to see them when they go for their $9 starbucks.

As long as the clowns in charge don't consider them dropkicks.
