Added a WHOLE lot for water in Mekardia. I overhauled the water physics for most actors, added items to let you move at full speed and jump super high in water, and added bubbles and dripping water for when you enter and exit water respectively.

Is MX Linux (XFCE) much faster than Mint (XFCE) ?
Or not , or are the same ?

I have a crappy netbook (4Gb ram, 1.6 GHz, 32 Gb SSD) I'm willing to put Linux on it, and I've already been using Mint on my main PC for over a year

But which one could squeeze the potential of that thing?

I like this Linux slander, it's kind of a hobby at some point imo

Now, are hobbies a waste of time ? Yeah, sure

Are they fun? Yeah you can have fun doing that as long as don't take it too seriously
linux is an awesome operating system for people that dont value their time. it works great if you waste all of your time first understanding how to make it work. my own experience example: if i leave an install un-updated for long enough it just becomes nigh impossible to do anything -> os reinstall

My current PC is one that I bought in 2018, a refurbished office pc with an Nvidia graphics card.

It had Windows 7 and never needed to update it up until 2023
After that W11 was noticeably a mess and my W7 was too old to keep up. So what I did?

I 2024 switched to Linux and I love it tbh ^^
This will never be me - I bought an M4 Mac Air just before my book tour - but I think the premise of "device hoarding" here is ridiculous. With every major purchase, buy as well as you can and then use that thing until you can't use it any more. That's just sensible.

Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.

Oh god I have Win10 VM on my Linux distro and at first it was just the basic Win10 version, but after a reboot that VM updated their Win10 version and now it has AI garbage ://

It feels icky having that AI garbage on my pc even if it's inside a VM

Don't use flatpack unless you include *ALL OF THE REQUIRED FILES THE PROGRAM USES* to make it work

If you can't the do use AppImage please
please just make a flatpak instead of using a barely working packaging format made by a chud

HUH ?! TOTAL CHAOS GOT RELEASED ALREADY !?
Because this month wasn't packed enough, they decided to shadow-drop Total Chaos (the Unity-based remake of the wildly ambitious GZDoom survival horror game) today.

I got an early copy and while I'm not finished yet, I'm very impressed. It feels like a slicker, more refined version of the original.

Fort Oasis is no paradise—it's a decaying nightmare where reality crumbles. The creator of Turbo Overkill unleashes survival-horror stacked with mysteries and monstrosities. Scavenge to craft weapons,...

Ok, Paint.net and SonyVegas 15 working from My Linux mint thanks to WinBoat! ^^

I'm dumb enough to not understand how to set up virtual machines so I'm glad there's an application now that does that for you ^^

Ok , actually got to run WinBoat and there's a problem with launching applications because it doesn't open them from Linux

BUT it's a easy to setup virtual machine AND it runs pretty well if you have more than 4 Gbs of ram.
Finally got to run Paint.net on "Linux" but this is good enough for me ^^

Is there an easier way or a script to install WinBoat ?

I'd like to try it but , what are those dependencies ?
November 11, 2025 at 5:11 PM
My current Linux problem is a self made one, a few days ago I found a GitHub script that would let you install Sony Vegas trough Wine

I tried it with Sony Vegas 13 and surely it installed the dependencies and made it launch- and then crash immediately at startup

So I've been trying with different-
November 9, 2025 at 5:03 AM
Yes, that's why Linux people are so "You should try Linux" "Linux would be great for this" and so on

And they can be seen as annoying, but they are doing it with a good end purpose in mind. So that we have more OS options and good options at that
linux is in such an unfortunate catch-22 state right now. not many people use it because of all the hardware incompatibilities and lack of developer support, but the hardware incompatibilities and lack of developer support are because not many people use it
