🔎when considering Hz-glomerulonephritis look for multiple autoantibodies, high ANCA titers, vasculitis and lupus overlap
📆timing occurs after 3-5 years of Hz use, higher doses = higher risk
🧬genetics may increase risk
🏥IS may help, but about 1/3 stay on dialysis

Did you know that the USRDS report also has one CKD chapter for pediatric data? The most common cause of kidney disease in children is congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) with prevalence of glomerulonephritis increasing with age. 🧵

Although structural disorders were the most common cause of kidney disease in all age groups, the percentage of children with disease attributed to structural disorders decreased with age. For example, structural diseases were the cause of kidney disease in 66.8% of children aged ≤5 years versus 40.2% of children aged 13-17 years. Conversely, GN was the cause of disease in 9.0% of children aged ≤5 years but 26.1% of children aged 13-17 years.
