UPDATE: A last-ditch effort Monday has failed to pull a stranded whale so it faced the ocean at high tide and could potentially swim to safety, authorities say. Dozens of people from numerous agencies and organizations worked this weekend to keep the whale alive and coordinate a rescue.
Efforts fail to save a stranded humpback whale on the Oregon Coast
Authorities say chances are “slim to none” that the young whale survives. The whale had been caught in fishing nets.
