I actually don't know what the origin of this type of bassline was - I was gonna venture Songs of Faith and Devotion/Ultra-period Depeche Mode but for some reason Massive Attack struck me as the obvious choice
I would also venture that there is some kind of magical quality to a Batman OST by which "what if we did a T-Rex thing but stuck a Massive Attack-type bassline under it and it's fucking U2 doing it" is actually *sweating* ...good? www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIdT...

One net positive of the Russia/Ukraine conflict is finding out I've not aged out of military service in year 2026, thus forcing me to revise my previous assessment of being *totally unemployable* (not that I'd fight for the present regime but we'll see what this year has to offer).
