Tonight's #sunset was amazing!

Almost every picture I post is tweaked a bit, like cropping, fiddling a bit with light, dark, and/or saturation, and such.

All I did with this though was to darken the exposure before hitting the button, and the colors still don't do justice to what my eyes saw.

Selfie in front of the Museum's Titan II, which is reaching up almost to the roof, some 80 feet away! There's some low, direct sunlight catching the polished metal, in between the shadows from the greenhouse window's frames. My hair and beard are now both close trimmed, and I'm in my Docent uniform. You can also see the tower holding up the missile, which is green lattice work. Ssdly, it is permanently bolted to frame, so we're not going to be able to launch it, no matter how many times I ask.

Decided to bring just an irrational amount of #pie to #friendsgiving last night ;-)

The lines did not line well because I didn't trust the process, lol.
Always a lesson, but the fudge topping didn't seem to be dissolving the fudge, so I *shudders* added a spot more water.
Next time I'll hold te course, but it should still taste good 🤞
The pie in a blue, glass pie dish. The Oreo crust along the edges is visible with the center of white, sour cream based topping looking rather smooth. There's lines of fudge topping on top of that which had a knife pulled through them, but they're almost wholly blown out.

The condensed milk bread! I ran out of time and energy for the pie, but I did get the crust done at least, so it'll go faster come the morn.
A love of condensed milk bread, with multiple cuts. The intervening tops of the crust are golden brown, and the glaze is reminiscent of a donut A crushed Oreo crust smoothed down into a glass pie pan.

One of the cool artifacts we have over in the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum's East Pavillion is a camera from 1959(!) that was used to track satellites!
I still need to read a search it more, but it appears to be movable across 3-axis!

Fun fact about ours: its nose rests much higher on display than it would have in service because we only have about the last foot of its GAU-8 30mm cannon in the nose. #EASM #A10

Was looking through photos for a @fark.com photo contest, and remembered this shot of I205 going across the Columbia from Oregon to Washington.
I was flying down to San Diego on an early morning flight, and the light was just perfect for how still the river looked :-)
Looking back on the bridge from the air. The Columbia is an unbroken band of blue, allowing for highly detailed reflections of the bridge and it's supports. The bridge is higher towards the top of the image on the Washington side, so it's reflection matches that curve as the reflections get ever closer. The ground and many of the trees are various shades of brown since it was early December, and some low fog is intermingled in the evergreen woods towards the top left.

There's a pair of standing lenticular clouds over Mt Hood this morning, and my little phobt camera just cannot do proper justice to how stunningly beautiful they look in the sunrise's warm glow.
Also amazing to think how huge they must be too, since Mt Hood is 70(ish)miles away from Portland.

One of the unique aspects of Kaman, as seen here on our Seasprite, is the use of trim tabs to control the blade pitch on the main rotor instead of rotating the rotor at the hub.
With the ending of the Kaman K-MAX production line in 2023, I believe it's no longer being used on any current models.
Three of the Seaprite's main rotor blades in the folded position, centered on their trim tabs. The tab is aft of the rotor's training egde, attached to brackets with a gap between the two flight surfaces. A control arm is attached to the bottom, which would move the trim tab up and down to deflect the main rotor blade in the opposite direction.

Good morning BlueSky! Today's Museum Selfie includes our SH-2F Seasprite. I dreamed of flying these as a teenager after reading Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising, but HS knee injuries sadly precluded my serving.
I still have a love of them though, so it's great having one here :-)

Portland mornings with clear skies don't suck.
A camera phone picture of the scresent Moon, where some of the disc is just visible, but the crescent part is brightly blown out. There's a faint star immediately below, and the lights of a passing 737 below and to the left. The little triptych of lights is framed along the right side by a pine tree's needles. Mt Hood backlight by the orange glow of the sun rising behind it. The layers in the foreground are all subdued in layers of shadows.
