Spoiler: The answer to these questions is the same answer to the question "how did we get here?" It's literally the same root.
Which behooves people to ask why was this particular death and not the tens before it was "the breaking point for many"?

Why is this the line "that they thought would not be crossed?"
A white mother and U.S. citizen being shot and killed is not what they were sold, and it is a breaking point for many.

That does not, in any way, mean the other actions are not also important and indefensible, but it is a line *for those in the movement* that they thought would not be crossed.
