this is just rank cowardice, the student very obviously disregarded the instructions and the assignment to antagonize her peers and instructors and provoke this exact reaction, society simply can’t function when the people in charge scurry like kicked dogs every time some troll bully says boo

It’s baffling to me how many people whose careers came up in the era of loss-leading hyper growth services that stopped being “cheap” post-IPO seem to think that the LLM industry using the same playbook are angling for a different outcome. Why? Why would you ever think that?

Yes, we all loved the overpass when it was built and I’m sure it prevented an accident or two and maybe sped up traffic slightly (there’s still a light at the next corner.)

But the only significant economic development I saw on a recent visit was a mile away from this convenient pedestrian bridge!

It's time to stop pretending that these are good-faith estimates that are exaggerating or being abused on the margin. Projecting the "fiscal impact" of a stadium over a 30-year lease is a fool's errand. If you disagree, show me one done right.

Also, fair enough!

But for me, as an old hetero male engineer discussing & recommending romance novels:

“Yes, romance can be a serious genre; the novels I like deal with serious issues like child abandonment and trauma and grief. I recommend… Flirting With Forever and Promise Me Sunshine 🤦‍♂️”

I didn’t notice that you’re also an author when I saw your request! Your books look interesting, I’ll check them out.

You think I’m exaggerating about Cara Bastone’s titles being embarrassing?

“Yes, romance can be a serious genre; the novels I like deal with serious issues like child abandonment and trauma and grief. I recommend… Can’t Help Falling, Flirting With Forever and Promise Me Sunshine 🤦‍♂️”
