In high school, I did peer HIV testing and counseling, continued into college, got licensed to do more therapy, then expanded into broader public health. After 2020, people sent me death threats for being on a vaccine recommendation advisory group, so now I'm doing something else.

“Gold-star gay” is a term that is rooted in misogyny and transphobia and even if it wasn’t, it treats sexuality as immutable and prevents a shared queer goal of liberating ourselves from the shackles of oppressive compulsory heterosexuality. Toss it from your vocabulary babes.
