Those are great! You know it's our favorite place to go for a walk. The cats in the windows, the dogs out for a walk, the library and rail car, or the new park by 1st st and the river bikeway to see sea turtles.

It's insane to think that I've been going there since the 80s w/Rubys at the end!

There were a few people along the water, but pretty empty even though it was a really warm day. There were a bunch of floofs though, so my fiancee was very happy! 15 min walk turned into 45 just to say hello to all of them. @charleeh.bsky.social you would have loved it too!

Went for a walk at #SealBeach today and saw a little snow on the mountains, but nothing like what @amandacsb2.bsky.social showed in her pic

Yep, been eating a lot of chicken legs and breasts mostly.

We're going to try a ground beef/pork thing I found at walmart next week. It's $3.97 a pound vs $5 and $6

For something a little different, Under the Big Black Sun by John Doe et al. is a must read/listen. I grew up in the SoCal punk scene in the early 80s so I have a lot of nostalgia for this period before OC hardcore & nazi's ruined a lot of the scene with their violence and gatekeeping....

A similar series set in Pre-WW1 Europe/Med is by Michael Pearce about Seymour of the Special Branch who bascially gives you a guided tour of what life was like building toward WW1 and the conflicts, tensions, and attitudes. The cases are interesting, but most never captured my interest as much as...

James R. Benn writes a WW2 mystery/crime series that I think is just absolutely fantastic. A quick warning that book 3 is meh, but the rest are must reads.

So I tend not to read a lot of fiction, especially crime/mystery, because most are so obvious and the authors don't put in enough time...

We'll see if it's disjointed, or if the editors were able to put all the parts together well!

And for those following along, I've read 77 books this year & I'm starting to think about what my main topic will be for next year.

Currently Reading! Above the Battle by Munro, one of supposedly only 2 books on AOP pilots in WW2. As a fan of FAC and FO books in the Vietnam War, I'm curious how this will stack up. The author did not finish the book before he died, so his family stepped in to fill in the blanks and polish it up

So the dude was wearing bright white/almost reflective shoes and a neon green shirt. Because... of course he was. Moron.

I have to admit, I don't mind living near the Airport except when the Coast Guard is getting ready to take off at 1030 at night. Those C-130 engines are f'ing LOUD and they take forever to taxi at full noise volume.

Between the giant sunglasses over another pair of sunglasses, and the double mask... I might as well not have a face lol.

Pretty soon, this is what will be considered a small truck/suv

While we had a few fully involved boats in a marina and just outside, the longest and biggest fire I ever went to while on a FB was a brush fire along a jetty that took hours.

So getting to see FB2 do its thing for real was really interesting.

Thats quite ok... I'm still a little irked at getting a senior discount when I was in my 30s all because I had let my beard grow out a bit. lol

I mean I still took the savings, but... a little irked.

Also have a pic of Mystic yelling Beat Army at his favorite little bear.
