I have been a lawyer, a novelist, a playwright, a poet, a comedian, and some of those things I still am, sort-of. Half Aussie. Half Newfie. All Canadian. Pretty far left. Have 2 grown sons. One husband. One dog. Part of a horse. Also: old (over 65).
That's not much of a response.

A response would be a big fat feckin' lawsuit.

At my axe throwing league and there's like sixteen of us all ages and stuff and one of us is telling us about her upcoming bottom surgery and everyone is so happy for her and excited and sometimes I have hope for this world.

One would think he'd be crushed by guilt, but heck no. It's his "workload." I guess spinning that hard would indeed tire one out.
Speaker Mike Johnson is "crushed by his workload."

Bitch, please! You've been on a self-conferred vacation the past few months.

I was doing some genealogical research into my pre-1900 family in Newfoundland, and on the lists of deaths for a mere month, for a few remote settlements, were dozens of whooping cough deaths. Also a great many smallpox, measles, diphtheria. Such progress we've made.
Unbelievable.

Very few things piss me off more than anti-vax morons killing their children.

We were visiting Ireland a couple of weeks ago, and ran into several anti-immigrant bigots. Charming AF, but "liked what Trump does with immigrants." Apparently they don't know much about Irish history. See: mass deportations without meaningful due process to Australia, inter alia.
The Irish far-right 'says no' bigots have an awful lot to answer for on this island. Their tactics spread to the UK, mostly notably England. Same chant, same hatefilled bigots - just a different flag. Although are own are known to have a liking for the auld union fleg at times...

Holy shit. So Elon decides it would be nice to know what region of the world people are posting from. So they add that little feature.
2 hours later they figure out that many Trump supporters with millions of followers are posting from other countries. Surprise!
That "feature" is now gone.

I remember a few years ago, MAGAs were sent into a frenzy over "Arabic numerals" being taught in schools - they were of course being tricked, and of course they fell for it. Nothing's changed.

I wonder if Trump will call for the execution of those who teach Arabic numerals?
We’re a little late to this, but we just saw MAGA melting down over a post claiming Mamdani is teaching “Arabic numerals” in public schools. We had to laugh do they not realize those are the numbers we use every single day? You really can’t make this stuff up.

If I live to be a thousand, I will never understand the American medical system. This is tragic. $1,700 a month for health insurance? And STILL there's debt?

In Canada this would have cost nothing. And yeah yeah wait times for some things, yeah yeah blah. So what.

This. Would. Have. Cost. Nothing.
Out healthcare cost for 2025 has been about $25,000. That’s with Kaiser insurance at $1700 per month.
My son broke his collar bone playing soccer $5k bill to put his arm in a sling & tell us he needs to rest it. And the copay for my surgery after I was shot… and there’s still Nov and Dec to go…

There is a reason Canadian banking rules cap mortgage amortization at 25 years.

Otherwise, after like 40 years of paying, you've basically paid nothing but interest.

It seems like a good idea because payments are lower, but they are 99.9% interest. For DECADES.

Run an "am schedule" and look.
