Samara Weaving (Hugo Weaving's niece) played Bill's daughter, she was in The Babysitter movies, Scream 6, Ready or Not and Gunz Akimbo. Unironically great filmography.

Jack Haven played Ted's daughter and is a genderqueer icon. Fantastic in Queens of the Dead and I Saw the TV Glow.

I am very much not a fan of Bill and Ted 3 tho I do love Samara Weaving, but I've been sleeping on Jack Haven. I just realised they were also in I Saw the TV Glow and Queens of the Dead, dude's a chameleon!

Rogue Male, the 30s novel about the English guy hunting Hitler that inspired First Blood, therefore accidentally giving rise to all 80s action cinema.

Not bad for a book where the hero spends half the time in a hole chatting with a cat. Had a good film adaptation in the 70s.

I want to be all HE'S NOT GOT A MOUSTACHE RAAARRRRRRR but Poe apparently only decided on his iconic look in the last few years of his life. For most of his career he was clean shaven with big sideburns.

Well, this is going to be equal parts depressing and horrifying.

We filmed too!

When we talk about films with truly great casts you're all sleeping on BEETHOVEN'S TREASURE TAIL (the 7th Beethoven sequel). Jeffrey Combs is the villain, Kirsty Swanson's.. there. Udo Kier turns up for some reason and there are random cameos from Colin Mochrie and Brian Downey from Lexx.

This is why I have the distinctive, serene air of someone who has a copy of the slasher movie where the killer puts machetes into flumes in a water park.

Working on my first House of Usher video script. An intro to Poe and Flanagan.

I got it to say he'd better better at giving birth to Jesus than the Virgin Mary.

I asked Grok if Elon would be better at giving birth to Jesus than the Virgin Mary.

This is the sort of can-do attitude that modern films are missing. Also on the nose advertising.
November 21, 2025 at 4:57 AM
I'm sorry to tell you that it has a sequel.

And tht there's at least one other killer tree movie (not counting Day of the Triffids, because its all highbrow and stuff.)

Fucking hell.

Interviewer: So this 2025 Twink, somehow got widowed in the 60s, went to space in the 70s, shredded a drug lord in the 80s and got called a dinosaur in 1995?

Frankenstein the True Story makes him the guy who's obsessed with making a dude out of body parts and Victor's his meek assistant. David McCallum plays him.

Well said 50s hearthtrob-turned-boat-hobo, drug aficionado, occasional communist, single father, WW2 vet and 20th century acting royalty Sterling Hayden.

I'm watching a 1990s, micro-budget X-files-y thing set in a Lovecraft-knock off setting starring some Classic Who actors.

It's a heady mix.

Have a pic of Titanic when it stopped in at Queenstown, Ireland. A stoker was hanging out on top of the dummy funnel and apparently being mistaken for an omen of disaster by some passengers who then left the ship.

Amazing example of being right for the wrong reason.

Poet Lionel Johnson was born in the 1860s, he wrote a poem about religion and being gay in Victorian Britain, it was called The Dark Angel.

Almost a century later Games Workshop turned him into Primarch Lion'el Johnson of the Dark Angels (because GW is deeply silly.)

People aren't ready to understand that silent movie Wings from 1927 has some of the best war movie footage ever made.

And why? Because they didn't use special effects. They had a military testing ground, a lot of tech and veterans from WW1 and no concept of health and safety.

Alien Earth was great but setting it before Alien, the wild-ass names and Timothy Olyphant playing Andrew Divoff in Faust Love of the Damned were kinda baffling choices.
