My favorite movie to watch this time of year. I know every line and joke by heart and yet I still laugh my ass off every time I watch
The 🇺🇸 American road trip comedy film "PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES" written, produced and directed by John Hughes and starring Steve Martin and John Candy was released in the U.S. #OnThisDay in 1987

I’m pleased to report that I’ve finished a game. After a million abandoned prototypes, I finally went from start to finish on making a game. It’s for the 2025 Pico-8 Advent Calendar Game Jam, I can’t release it myself until it’s released with that collection in December. But I finished a game.

Only Ultima I ever played growing up was Ultima Online (and wow, did I play UO a LOT.) After Techdweeb did his Dusty Game Society vid about Ultima IV, I decided to give it a shot. Game is incredible. I’ve achieved 2 virtues so far and nabbed 3 stones.

I will become The Avatar. I am dead set on it.

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

It really just daily astounds me how limited Americans understanding of politics really is. How conservatives really see "liberals, socialists, communists, anarchists" as basically all the same thing. How liberals like Ezra Klein really think Ben Shapiro is "the opposing viewpoint." Its wild.

Lot of Doctor Who references in Strange New Worlds this season. The one where both shows wrapped up a really solid season by shitting the bed with finales so stupid that I might end up ignoring them in my personal head-canon is not a fun reference or crossover. Horrible. Dreadful. Painfully stupid.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk makes we worry we can no longer have peaceful discussions of whether gays should be stoned to death or civil and collegial debates about whether black people are inherently inferior. Our culture will suffer.

SNW's "Terrarium" is one of the best Star Trek episodes in a long time. It nailed a classic Trek formula: The character-driven, emotionally resonant bottle-ish episode where enemies gain understanding and acceptance. It will be memorable. A serious entry among the best episodes across all series.

Graham Greene was many characters across his prolific career, but to me he will always be Edgar Montrose from The Red Green Show. RIP, sir!
Graham Greene has sadly passed away at the age of 73.

He played Skully in ‘Echo’

There’s this old movie from the 80s, “Johnny Dangerously.” In it, there’s a gag where an Italian mobster is deported to Iceland. Newspaper headline on screen reads “Moroni Deported to Iceland! Says He’s Not From There?”

I miss when being deported to a random place you’re not from was a silly joke…
UPDATE: Fox News reports that ICE told Kilmar Abrego Garcia they are going to deport him to Uganda on Monday.

1. Slide to the left
2. Slide to the right
3. Take it back now y'all
4. One hop this time
5. Right foot lets stomp
6. Left foot lets stomp
7. Cha cha real smooth
8. Now turn it out

Free As A Bird was released 30 years ago for The Beatles Anthology CD set. Processing a demo tape John made as he wrote the song, the rest of the band recorded parts to finish it. It was muddy & sounded unfinished. It’s been remixed & mastered with modern tech and finally sounds like a proper track.

“Would you rather use commercial tax filing software or a free IRS one?”

Free IRS one.

“Okay but, what if it cost the federal government money?”

Free IRS one.

“Sure but, you don’t seriously want this right? You want to pay TurboTax.”

Free IRS one.

Take the survey to protect free direct file!
Treasury is required to produce a report to Congress related to Direct File, the free tax filing option that the current administration intends to kill. They've created a survey with a bunch of leading questions. The survey deserves some responses supportive of the program to counteract its framing:
IRS asks for public input on free tax filing options to inform congressional report | Internal Revenue Service
IR-2025-85, Aug. 21, 2025 — The IRS invites the public to participate in an anonymous feedback survey on tax preparation and filing options, which will run through Sept. 5, 2025.
