Can I add: the CARE this movie was made with is so obvious. Nothing slapped together. Every part of it intentional. Would be great to see more of that in Hollywood. That's why people went to see it. They know the makers care about their film and it shows

It was shocking really when you think of it.

Hearing the tap of the muzzle on the glass and looking down its barrel was not an extraordinary occurrence which is horrific when you think of it. I’m pretty sure I was about 8 at the time.

Exactly right. The reality of those times were bleak but as a city, we dealt with it with black humour and a determination to grab any joy out of life where we could. I remember having assault rifles pointed at me when crossing the border as a child, sitting in the back of the car.
