We’ve been willing, as a country, to draft men to die in wars, and I unfortunately don’t think it’s that much of a stretch, if men panic hard enough about the birth rate, for this country to draft both living and dead women’s bodies.

What few reins there ever were on capitalism seem to be coming off, and men in power are real worried about the birth rate.

And women’s bodies produce valuable things: babies, placentas, cord blood, menstrual stem cells.

For men who want babies being produced without women, who can’t get artificial wombs working, what’s the next best thing? Possibly a woman’s body without a woman’s consciousness present.

The abortion bans are starting to result in horrifying cases like that of Adriana Smith, who was dead, as a person. They kept her on life support, though, in order to produce a baby.

And as it turns out, producing babies isn’t the only potentially really valuable thing women’s bodies do. Menstrual fluid is full of powerful stem cells. The placenta is full of medically valuable stuff.

Men would love nothing more than to have artificial wombs available so they don’t have to deal with actual alive, thinking women with opinions and agency and all that.

But so far, no dice.

What science is nowhere near being able to replicate is *pregnancy.*

Possibly because scientists hate studying female bodies and avoid it whenever possible, but also because it’s incredibly complex.

Eggs are more complex and harder to reproduce, but it’s likely still within reach. They can also be banked.
