(And I suspect much of the game laughs in the face of the very idea of ‘flavour text’ to begin with – language is perhaps the core around which the rest of the game tries to flavour?)

I think the adage ‘I hate writing, but I love having written’ sums it up nicely. I really don’t think good writing can come without hardship, struggle etc.

I’m not sure how ‘hidden’ Slice & Dice is now, at least in roguelike circles, but it certainly hasn’t broken into the mainstream.

Anyway, it’s one of the most inventive & deep roguelike dice-builders out there, developed over the span of 7 years.

So, hopefully I can be bit more carefree here now lol but we’ll see. Another issue is the tendency towards branding, becoming super insular with your ‘thing’ and the associated circles. But all my follows rn are mostly comprised of video game people, literary academics, & alt music publications.
