Money well spent. Great governance. And took care of the crime too.

DVBA is interesting, as they’ve recently been pretty positive on what they’re seeing downtown. Maybe largely linked to street patrols, but also the new rental builds and changes on Pandora.

Based on results they SHOULD support current Council.

Interesting space to watch.

It will be "clean streets for all" or some shittery like that.

Didn’t Ken Sims run on ripping up bike lanes, and then claiming that he was all about saving tax dollars??
So you spend a ton of money removing infrastructure that keeps people (and their cars) safer?
Smart.

Watch for that logic in #yyjpoli among certain candidates this year.

Quite an impressive list of accomplishments and progress this term!
Nice to have a record you can stand behind!
Well done, and thanks for sharing!

ICBC generally runs on an accident-based system, and does not do enforcement. Bylaw is often a complaint-based system, so it’s tricky. A dedicated traffic enforcement force might be able to blitz and curtail illegal bikes for a while.
But common sense and safety need to prevail here.

…/. So no need to make things more complicated.

I WOULD suggest, however, that we might want to rethink policing, and have a dedicated, well trained corps of road safety and traffic’s law enforcement officers, leaving police to do police stuff, and enforcing BC and City traffic laws.

I feel like the regulations and guidance exist adequately here in BC.
ICBC doesn’t regulate or licence e-bikes, which allow throttles as long as they meet the definition based on size, weight and power.
They do require licence & regulate mopeds and limited speed motorcycles.
…./
Mopeds and scooters
Find out the rules to operate a moped, or limited-speed motorcycle, in B.C.

Can’t we just arrest folks and put them on buses?? I heard that’s the solution.

I’ve also been led to understand that it is a very simple issue, and that our Council created it by being too nice.

Have I been lied to?

And to clarify…. I know the US is a crapshow, and many other nation states who we trade with also commit horrific human rights violations and genocide. I’m aware but thank you for the notes
January 18, 2026 at 12:04 AM
Hopefully you don’t see any human rights violations before you get to the hotel.

Our neighborhood blood ties are strong. I recommend a further de-amalgamation of Victoria into 6 separate municipalities, each with its own PD and 9-member Council.

Then an annual street hockey match to crown the Supreme City for a Year.

Continue to advocate for this logical approach to road safety.

One of the dumbest moves ever made by the BC Liberals was to cancel photo radar. Populist move to end something that saved lives.

“It’s a cash grab”, they said. Then…
“It doesn’t make money!” They said.
