Security firm Trail of Bits has open-sourced Buttercup, a Cyber Reasoning System (CRS) developed for the AIxCC (AI Cyber Challenge).

It is designed to find and patch software vulnerabilities in open-source code repositories.

worked on this (incomplete) diagram of how the ASCII control codes work in unix today

it's interesting how these are all mixed together:

- Special codes (like `3` for SIGINT) handled by the OS
- regular keypresses (like `13` for "enter”)
- codes handled by the program (like `18` for Ctrl-R)
