Impressed by what I've seen of Hytale — it might actually become the Minecraft 2.0 that Microsoft have wasted a decade not making. The modding situation in particular sounds too good to be true, with built in modding tools, visual scripting, native serverside-hosted/client-downloadable Java […]

I've worked on 25+ released titles, recently won an Indie Game award for our team's work on #RiftoftheNecroDancer, and my music has been described as "absolutely unhinged in the best ways possible" and "I dont know what genre of music this but I need to hear more of it"

Also, while I'm on the game jam ranting. MAKE MORE GAMES. Every developers games are shitty until you get to your next game -- then it's less shitty. It only gets better with time.

2 years of gamedev in 40 seconds.

Exactly one year ago, I launched the Steam page for my indie game, Tossdown.

I didn’t know what to expect, but over time it has grown with the support of so many amazing people.

Here's how it got here.

I’ve wanted to try this “fighting game meets card game” idea for a long time, and it also lets me show off some of my sound design and music.

In this same vein, I want to include resources devs have found helpful on their journey.

Do you have any recommendations?

I plan to include Freya's guides to game dev math.
Harvard's free intro to Computer science
And the shader bible that's floating around somewhere on the internet.

It seems a lot of people are wanting to start up game dev.
Being a self taught developer is hard.
I've been tempted to make the Self-Taught's Guide to GameDev for some time now.

If you'd be interested in that, drop a follow! I'll post about it when it goes live on my blog!

I moved my websites over to Hugo from Jekyll, since I was getting annoyed with Ruby. There were minimal pain points and I like that Hugo had so much built in already.

Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

Is anyone brave eniough? 👀

semi-yearly repost of good NON DONUT #blender tutorials!
People were asking what a good way to start learning blender is, and I'd say SKIP THE DONUT! Its lame and you can do better! Eve's tutorials are fantastic and a great place to start if you want to learn basic character sculpting and some great fundamentals as you go. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlPP...

i've had all sorts of difficult jobs, have launched products with millions of users, managed big teams, did presentations in front of government officials and billionaires, etc

making games is way way way harder than any of that IMO

it is a miracle these things exist

Wish Godot resources could be INHERITED like scenes can? I hacked together an addon that lets you do exactly that. Just add inherited_resource.gd to any resource, point it at a base resource of same type, and you're set! Grab it here: codeberg.org/MajorMcDoom/...

they won't tell you this, but, you can make scripting languages in Godot
it is possibly the most obscure and useless class in the engine, but there is a ScriptingLanguageExtension class
0 documentation on it and i plan on fixing that (wish me luck)
