They offer a service I really value, and it's honestly a daily part of my life. But this is the line I'm not willing to cross.
A letter to SiriusXM: Hi- I'm a longtime subscriber who loves the Grateful Dead channel and, because I live out of market of my favorite sports teams, I adore your sports coverage. But, I have to say, for the first time since I signed up, I'm seriously considering cancelling my subscription. I came across a video today of Megyn Kelly saying some of the most vile disgusting things I've ever heard on your air (and I've listened to a lot of Howard Stern). Kelly was talking about how she's knows someone “close to the case” who says “Jeffery Epstein is not a pedophile, but that he was into the barely legal types, like, he liked 15-year-old girls…” So we’re clear- there is no state where a 15 year old girl is “barely legal,” although the “legal” part she’s talking about is regarding the age of consent for sexual intercourse. She’s talking about having sex with children. Then Kelly says she’s not trying to make excuses for it- and then goes on and tries to make excuses for it. “I’m just giving you the facts. He wasn’t into, like, 8-year-olds, he liked the very young, like, teen types that could pass for even younger than they were…there’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old.” I was hoping someone from SiriusXM could educate me on what the company’s official stance is on what exactly the difference between having sex with a 15-year-old girl and having sex with a 5-year-old girl. Because they both seem monstrously inexcusable to me. I actually recently had a conversation with a friend where I said I wasn’t in a position to boycott SiriusXM over Megyn Kelly, because it was seriously my only lifeline for my sports teams. But this is too much. I can’t financially support a service that platforms someone trying to justify why having sex with a young teen is somehow a morally gray area compared to a young child. I would like a response to this before I make a final decision on whether I will remain a subscriber.
