I trust Nintendo to push on design, even if hardware changes aren’t drastic, studios will still get better at using the improvements they will make.

Agile is the closest I've seen toward standardization, which is either a result of addressing this or a viral spread of bad practices from one studio to many.
Problem is, the Tower of Babel approach got us to ship.
