I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Same old same old. Good but not good enough.

It's the same every week.

"doing the same thing and expecting different results"

Farke's just too conservative and reactive

I used to think the tax billionaires line was ok but missed out on the quantity of money raised.

Ie. Yes they should pay more, but to make a dent in public finances you need to do hings on a big scale.

But when billionaires earn as much as HALF THE PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY, that becomes the play
At the Budget, the Green Party's message is clear: Cut Bills. Tax Billionaires.

it's so good to hear a british politician on the main bbc news platforms actually saying this stuff though. like we just got used to it not happening for years
A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

Brexit detonated our economy and our politics. Since then, our country seems to have lost its mind, veering off to the right, reawakening the racism genie, ruining itself to try to hide the dishonesty and snowballing damage of it all.
And now Farage could be PM ffs.
Mindblowing self-inflicted idiocy

Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year.

That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare.

Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.

I cannot be convinced that residents of car-dominated streets in the UK wouldn't prefer this type of arrangement.
Bollards & one-way systems stop through traffic. Play signs tell drivers kids are in the street. Paving, build-outs & planting slow cars. People add benches, hang out, share drinks. The street becomes an extension of home - a social space, not a shortcut. This is what neighbourhoods should feel like

Batteries providing grid stability #2
Now, 10,000 EV drivers in Finland are contributing to grid stability. The smart charging service Synergi, which already optimises EV charging according to dynamic power prices, now provides FCR support to the national grid using this aggregated fleet.
Finland’s first EV virtual power plant goes live
With the launch of its smart charging service, over 10,000 Finnish households can earn monetary rewards by allowing Synergi to optimise their home EV charging during grid-friendly hours.

Batteries providing grid stability #1
Batteries are coming to Europe. Earlier this year Europe’s largest battery storage site went live at Blackhillock, Scotland.

The facility has a capacity of 300MW/600MWh.

Much larger batteries are under development: A huge 1 GW / 4 GWh system is being constructed in Jänschwalde, Germany.

Exactly this.

There is no logic to stopping a car that's going to pass in 1 minute instead of the one passing in 10 seconds.
Why should pedestrians in Brum have to wait nearly a minute for a driver travelling from over half a kilometre away?

We deserves better!

Ask 2: Upgrade crossings and cut wait times so people can cross safely and quickly

This is what @jigarshahdc.bsky.social and I have been talking about the past years. As capacity costs rise while battery costs plummet, we will see more of this.

Well not being disappointed by this government lasted about 24 hours

Hot on the heels of actually getting something right (trains)

They go do something stupid and cruel by ditching low income supporting energy efficiency eco literate scheme with something straight out of the daily mail
To be clear, what is being proposed here is to axe the main mechanism for getting Britain’s homes insulated - which is by FAR the best way to reduce household energy bills in the long term 🤦‍♂️

…and also, just incidentally, an absolute non-negotiable requirement for meeting UK climate targets 😬🥵☠️

Fair play.

This seems like a genuinely good move by the government

Maybe making public services and utilities better could be something they focus on more.

Next stop water companies 🤞🏻
