Stop. Anthropomorphising. AI.

It can't "lie", any more than it can apologise, or tell the truth. It isn't human; it doesn't have agency or intent. It doesn't know what lying is; it doesn't have human emotions or motivations. Grok is a shit tool with zero guardrails, made deliberately so by humans.
Grok is now lying about its image creation. This reply is at end of an extensive discussion where a user did their best to make it admit it had put Renee Good's dead body in a bikini

The example of that I verified is real and remains on X - not linking to it but censored screengrab and prompt below

Not entirely comparable, because the West in general and the US in particular is still highly dependent on Taiwan for manufacturing hi-tech components.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

What if Thames Water aren’t always the baddies when it comes to sewage in London rivers? It’s hard to comprehend, so in April I challenged @rachel-rees.bsky.social to find a single example of a misconnection and chase it to the Thames. It became an epic quest: www.londoncentric.media/p/misconnect...
London's other sewage scandal
London Centric chases illegal sewage from a single polluting pipe on its toxic journey across the capital.

🧵 Is it a super flu year? Who knows, but I think the current reporting is stupid.

A pissed off thread using data.

Firstly - here are today's headlines and some from the last 3 years... spot the difference. 1/10

It's time to get science back into policymaking

Misunderstanding & hubris have broken public trust in governments’ use of science, but it can be restored.

Here's a #HigherEducationPostcard of @ox.ac.uk's barges which used to be moored along the Thames, or Isis, in Oxford

Ideal platforms for the drinking of Pimms and general larking about, whilst more sporty types rowed

So you have Wolfson College, Oxford, and Wolfson College, Cambridge

The only other person currently to have a college named after them in both universities is Jesus Christ

😳☺️
✨ A few years back I stood outside Wells Cathedral for a full day and photographed the impact of the light on the front facade. I was amazed at the outcome - at how a single entity could morph and change under the changing light. 🌅 #thread
