The workers did their thing, put in new soil, laid sod, and left. The sod is now being destroyed by path users who are continuing to behave reasonably in the circumstances.

Workers replacing lights along the Rideau Canal paths have finished up by putting in new soil and sod where they’ve dug up trenches.
Here, they’ve done it on a slope next to a deep depression where the path itself is failing. It fills, wall to wall, with maybe two inches of water every rain.

But seriously, the wading pool and fountain that turned into a splash pad is my favourite bait and switch from the renderings. They even put in bricks in the *shape* of the wading pool they didn't build.

Later, he said we're bringing back the Pattons and Schwarzkopfs.
Norman Schwarzkopf, whatever his other qualities, was not a toweringly athletic general.

I'm always stunned when I get a government request like this.
They've broken their own ATIP law, mucked about for literally YEARS with a request, and now they're unilaterally stopping the clock on it with the intention of throwing it away unless I stop them.
At the Department of Justice!

Canada's about 11.5 per cent of the way to its two-billion-tree goal.
(Also, "has signed or is negotiating" is all basically the same.)

I am not a lawyer, but if I WERE a lawyer, I might just think about stopping lawyering if a unanimous panel of appeal-court judges said things like this about my arguments. decisions.fca-caf.ca/fca-caf/deci...
It's a very technical patent-infringement case; don't sweat the details.

One last odious extract. The antisemitism in this thing is practically endless, but just by the by, here's a nested indictment of Churchill and Roosevelt for provoking the Second World War.

I do wonder what MAGAworld would make of Simpson's criticisms of industrial production (capitalist or communist, just facets of the same evil) and, uh, Jesus.

On immigration specifically, the writer, William Gayley Simpson, argued that if the U.S. is to survive, "all aliens, such as Negroes, Jews, and Orientals, will have to be put out and kept out."

Cannot get over how bonkers it is that the U.S. government is invoking "Which Way Western Man" in trying to recruit people to ICE.

The USTR says too little fentanyl is caught at the border. He might not be aware that the White House considers it a sign of trouble if MORE fentanyl is caught at the border.

I learned that by wondering what the heck this suggested question about how garlic mustard affects "natives" was all about.
(The reasonable answer, unlike the phrasing of the question, is about an invasive plant outcompeting local plant species.)

Nobody has "just" informed the U.S. of anything. The U.S. has known about the DST for years. The *Biden administration* was unhappy about it. Canada has done nothing new, announced nothing new.

Everything else aside, this idea that any question about the effects of the U.S. bombing of Iran is a personal criticism of the bomber pilots is the very lowest-rent version of the 2000s "support our troops" sloganeering.
