to safely dispose of these hats, eat them. natural fibers — such as cotton, wool, silk, and linen — breakdown in the digestive track. synthetics do not. thus, if you eat your hat, the synthetics will pass through the other side. smush through the poop to find the synthetic fibers and recycle them.

please don't do this. MAGA hats are made from an acrylic blend, which will release toxic chemicals when set on fire, potentially harming you and downwind woodland creatures

Why the BBC should not counter-claim against Trump, whatever he calls them, unless as a last resort.
A counter-claim here would be a last resort. The objective should be to extract BBC from litigation, not tie it in more messily and expensively.

A counterclaim would give Trump all the rights of a defendant as well as a plaintiff.

Would be a nightmare, given his litigation game playing.

Every single media lawyer I have spoken with this weeks agree that the BBC is doing exactly the right thing in admitting a mistake without admitting liability.
What serious lawyer would ever advise issuing an apology while there’s an imminent legal threat? How did the BBC not have lines and briefing ready?

Is it even capable of fighting a case when some near its top seem not to want it to win?

Well thank goodness for the special relationship, otherwise we'd be in a right pickle.

"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost" - I think this one applies again and again to Trump (though as you say apology probably smart)

A brief thread on Trump renewing his threat to sue the BBC.

(Note I am not an American lawyer, this is perspective of an English legal commentator.)

If Trump still sues the BBC, notwithstanding their apology, he is in a far less strong position than if the BBC had not apologised.

The apology was tactically a sensible, prudent move by the BBC whether Trump sues or not.

The judge who oversaw the initial challenge to Trump’s attempt to use the Alien Enemies Act to quickly remove people from the country will soon have the authority to continue any contempt proceedings over whether the admin violated his first orders in the case on March 15.

I explain:
D.C. Circuit won't review Trump admin contempt appeal further, sending matter back to Boasberg
The latest order over the Trump administration's actions sending flights to El Salvador on March 15.

Every evening the US bloggers take over the timeline, the daily heralds of worsening news.

And you wonder how the US polity will get through to the morning.

Brazil continues to lead the way in taking on rogue power. A Supreme Court panel has moved to put lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro on trial for seeking Trump's help to halt criminal proceedings against his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Thank you for your support for my blogging this week on President Trump’s misconceived and illiberal legal threat to the BBC.

For me it was the perfect topic and I especially enjoyed the mock reply letter.

And so far…the right outcome.

Again, many thanks.

This may be Trump's perfect social media post. A true work of art. He confirms:

✅He personally directs criminal investigations.
✅He is targeting opponents.
✅Epstein "records" exist and he knows the contents.

Bonus points for connecting it to investigation of his fondness for Putin.👀
