It ships many new features, detailed below, but that are articulated around the following:

It would be one thing having a "debate" on immigration if people meant they wanted a "debate" based on facts. But what most people seem to mean when they say they want a debate is that is they want us to pretend a bunch of entirely made up bullshit is true.

Sara is a rising #BioImageAnalysis

Watch this space...
Sara from our team has been busy in the last 3 days organising the 8th Crick Data Challenge, a friendly hackathon where attendees tackle research data testing their creativity and coding skills in new ways - congratulations on running a great event! 💻✨

My son was born in London and, therefore, obviously, has a British accent.

I never really gave it much thought.

Until now, as in the last few months, he has started correcting my Irish pronunciation.

And terrible music.

E.g. Linkin Park are a thing again.
One of the funniest things about getting older is watching people my age succumb to nostalgia about these terrible films.
God its so insane anakin admits to slaughtering a bunch of kids and it’s just a non factor for padme

#BioImageAnalysis Job Alert!

As it happens, I was in Helsinki in August for the first time in about 20 years - it's delightful.

But I'm not entirely sure the image below is entirely representative of the role...

It isn't.

According to @unhcr.org, there are 18.7 million forcibly displaced people in Europe, of which approximately 12.7 million are from either Syria or Ukraine.

Less than 1% of that 18.7 million (about 163,000) have "chosen" Ireland and the vast majority (almost 113,000) are from Ukraine.

Pretty sure a lot of scientists do this with microscopes
I really enjoy this detail from the wikipedia entry on Check it Out! With Doctor Steve Brule: "In post-production, the video is piped through a VCR, which is then intermittently hit to simulate poor production value."

I'm in the photo, but I had very little to do with the successful delivery of this workshop - @lankylaste.bsky.social, Sara Salgueiro Torres, @martinjones.bsky.social, Cameron Shand and @k-meech.bsky.social did all the heavy lifting.
And it’s a wrap! Thanks to all attendees for your hard work in analysing bioimages with open source software to make science more reproducible. Best of luck for your image analysis adventures!

Someone asked me today if I had any recommended guides for developing #FIJI plugins. It's not something I've been doing a whole lot of in recent years, so my memory is a little hazy. I did refer to this extensively during my PhD and PostDoc, but maybe people have other/better suggestions?
