Believe it or not, I am doing my best.

Did the new nacelle design debut in TMP? I feel like I should have know that but I’ve actually only ever seen it once.

The one that’s just “Buddy”.

I have a friend who read Pale Fire in college and one of the students thought they’d gotten some weird heavily notated version and only read the poem. When the class started discussing they were like “yo are there two books with this title?”

“Oh you don’t also know French?”

This sounds dismissive, to be clear I think it’s brilliant.

“You thought it was impressive I wrote a novel from the perspective of a manipulative sociopath who lies to the reader the whole time? What if I did that but, like, with a poem.”

This is very funny, but also The Defense, Lolita, and Pale Fire are really good.

That’s just what a non-weirdo would say.

You also don't have to find a sociopath willing to work for you to do the lying, they built a great big one.

WOOF.

Is it the future move planning/countering part that you're looking to learn? Learning to "See the whole board" as Bartlet told Sam?

Any country in which it is entirely lawful to bomb foreign boats without warning or provocation should forfeit its right to exist.

They're speaking about it as if it's the exact speech from Shakespeare, too. Very fun.

How could I forget James Purefoy, portraying a level of greasy, self serving smarm previously thought impossible.

McKidd playing the straight man to Stevenson is great the ENTIRE time.

That scene where Pullo comes back from Cleopatra's tent? Incredible.

And absolutely STACKED with talent. Ciarán Hinds, Kevin McKidd, Ray Stevenson, Polly Walker, Kerry Condon, Lindsay Duncan, Tobias Menzies! It's an embarrassment of riches.
December 4, 2025 at 4:12 PM
I've had a similar experience getting people to watch Rome. They're like "But it's just history", and 5 episodes in they're like "Titus Pullo is the greatest character in literary history."

Them: <screaming, crying, throwing up>

Mo: "FULL COLORS!"

As a treat.

"But you didn't refute my points, one by one, about the specific benefits of eugenics. Therefore I, an intellectual, win."

I mean, if I was told a public figure was worm occupied, and I had to look around and figure out which one... It wouldn't be hard to guess.
