Here’s the thing. If you see foreign populations and their attendant culture, music, food, politics, issues, celebrations as a PROBLEM and not a tremendous ASSET in your life, you’re not just bigoted but you’re also deliberately choosing a more boring life.

Most publishers (there are always exceptions) decide whether or not to buy a second book (or a third etc) based on how the previous book did. So when you pirate a book in most cases it’s less about the money you just stole from both author and publisher it’s about the future book you just killed.

Genuine question: why dont the arguments you are making against piracy hurting sales also apply to libraries? There are absolutely reasons why the former is bad and the latter are good, but I worry sometimes that using my library (or buying used books or sharing books) has some of the same downsides
