gosh it's almost like every single person arguing that these were *obviously* going to be used for oppression was right and every cop and public figure who testified the opposite way was either openly lying or so gormlessly naive that they shouldn't be trusted to breathe without supervision

I worked with a bunch of cool people on this issue as an employee of @afscme.bsky.social way back in 2011. Successfully restoring child care for 17,000 kids remains one of the highlights of my career. Shame on those who would kick little kids out of preschool and put working parents into crisis.

DHS names schools, hospitals and churches as sites for enforcement. My mind immediately went to the ways that the state terrorized Black people throughout history but specific examples from the civil rights era like Bloody Tuesday. This isn't a dog whistle, they are saying it plainly and out loud.

I hope, but I genuinely doubt, that the water infrastructure crisis in the City of Richmond that has forced the General Assembly to postpone the Commonwealth's business and the Governor to flee to his tax free horse farm will lead both to adequately fund fixing it.

Stuff I think is not cool: neo-nazi cabinet appointments, "right to work" for less laws, blaming marginalized people for the failures of a government or political party, acting like child rearing isn't also work, people who profit from my desire for my children to be free from sickness or injury
