Maybe I’m just influenced by his height but Trossard gives Cazorla as a winger vibes

Mamdani won and so he’s both famous and powerful now. Trump doesn’t have allegiances, he’s just drawn to celebrity. To him Mamdani’s in the club now. Doesn’t matter that Mamdani insulted him left and right to get there.

Anyone who knows an ounce about politics can see clearly: if senate democrats, particularly Chuck Schumer, thought ending the shutdown was the wrong move, they could have scuttled Shaheen’s negotiations. One statement a week ago, condemning the emerging deal would have ended it. They wanted this.

Cortez Masto and Rosen also tanked the nomination of Adeel Mangi to the 3rd Circuit last year over islamophobic slanders. That seat is now held by Trump’s personal attorney, Emil Bove.
Under Schumer's leadership, eight Democrats (Cortez Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, King, Rosen, & Shaheen) joined the Republicans in moving forward a bill to reopen the government without ACA subsidies—Dems' stated key aim—or any other real concessions from the status before the shutdown.

I have dedicated my life and career to a party that constantly fails me.

Watched A House of Dynamite tonight and now I’m lying awake in bed thinking about how the fate of humanity during a nuclear crisis rests in the absolute worst hands.

It really is wild that less than a day ago I was in a booth filling in bubbles and hours later those choices reflected who governs the city I live in. Kinda think this democracy thing may be underrrated.

Up and down the ballot, in state after state Republicans based their campaigns on demonizing trans people. It failed every time. “Moderation” on the civil rights of trans people would have you compromise your values for an ineffective electoral strategy. www.erininthemorning.com/p/a-stunning...
"A Stunning Rebuke Of Anti-Trans Politics"—Dems Win Elections Nationwide Despite Anti-Trans Ads
As election results poured in on Tuesday night, it became clear that Democrats were winning nationwide against anti-trans opponents.

All elections are pretty much thermostatic now. This is the interesting question - is the degree of the backlash indicative of anything? Are there through lines that can be harnessed to improve the country?
So, a predictable pattern is that off-year elections move against the party in the White House.
I'm eager to see an analysis of how the 2025 move against the party in the White House compares to 2021, 2017, 2013, 2009...

I genuinely lost hope that someone who looks like me, and is unapologetically Muslim could have a place in public life these days. So grateful to be proven wrong by Zohran and NYC 😁

The obsession with white male conservatives as a beacon of authenticity means that the left is desperate for a guy who looks like John Fetterman and votes like Bernie Sanders. But the guys who look like John Fetterman vote like John Fetterman.

HE’S JUST SO GOOD AT THIS!!!
Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

Shame is the most powerful emotion. It can convince a person to bury themselves.

These people want to be popular. They want to be the locus of culture. And they will burn everything to the ground because they’re not.
The Charlie Kirk memorial special that Sinclair was going to broadcast instead of Kimmel (before deciding not to) has just 71,000 views on YouTube:

The logical extension of this type of thinking: if only straight (presumably white) men can effectively message to men, then only straight (presumably white) men are competitive politicians. There’s absolutely no reason why the logic stops at consultants.
This is going around over there btw with lots of agreement from guys like this.

One side does not believe I should be a part of the body politic. In fact, it’s not limited to me. They have lists of peoples they want excluded and subjugated. Living together necessarily requires forcing them to relinquish that project.
"Much of what I would describe as Kirk's worst moments were now just standard fair MAGA Republicanism. And the leader of MAGA Republicanism is the President of the United States...we are going to have to live here with each other believing what we believe. Disagreeing in the ways we disagree."
