LFG New Mexico! Who’s going to try it, oh wait this is illegal under nearly all zoning in the state because of parking, wah wah
In Portland, they're putting six 850 sf townhome units with no parking on 50'x100' lots

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

Totally game for when the wealthiest country in the history of he world finally decides we don’t want to let people die slowly on the streets anymore
ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

I get shouted at online for offering that nuclear energy is more complex than people let on, especially in the “abundance” circles. And while I know it has to be at least part of our approach to ghg’s, my lord how we gloss over the ugliness of where the fuel comes from and where it goes after
Two New Mexico agencies announced they have taken early steps to remediate four long-abandoned, potentially dangerous uranium mines, marking the state’s first foray into a problem experts have said is of potentially “infinite” scope and cost.

New Mexico- still not building enough new housing
It’s really 6 states now with resale inventory well above 2019 levels — FL/TX of course but also Tennessee, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Washington:

Charles was an amazing person who I had the pleasure of knowing most of my life. As we lose the last survivors of the Holocaust, I can't square in my head how so many people are mainstreaming the exact rhetoric that led to the most despicable thing that humans have done in modern times.
Charles Rotmil, Holocaust survivor who shared his story with Maine students, dies at 93
A teacher, painter and filmmaker, Rotmil was one of Maine's most crucial voices in Holocaust remembrance and human rights education.

the most impactful affordable housing project in Santa Fe, perplexingly, remains low-t-no priority for the city
Despite Santa Fe’s housing affordability crisis, which became one of the top issues in this year’s mayoral election, funding for the Paseo del Sol extension is not included in the city’s capital outlay requests for the 2026 legislative session. sfnm.co/47LXEhu
Key to affordable housing development, Paseo del Sol extension not on Santa Fe's capital outlay request list
The city is not asking lawmakers for support for infrastructure for Tierra Contenta, which could create 600 affordable homes.

You can file a land use appeal in Santa Fe for $132 and tie up a development for years. It costs the public and raises the cost of housing. Colorado‘s judicial review reform bill (HB24-1107) makes appellants pay for the city’s legal fees if they lose- dissuading frivolous lawsuits sfnm.co/49SB8EU

Being from Maine and watching the oppo research drop on Graham Platner, (coincidentally) the week after Mills announces her candidacy seems fishy. It’s disappointing to see the outrage posting without people reading the details. Not defending him but looks like online peope are taking the bait.

With the new 150% median income standard well over 50% of New Mexico’s population qualifies for assistance. We have to talk how this is largely going into inflationary consumer subsidies and our broken housing system. Either way it’s deeply unsustainable

quick explainer about why we get things we don’t want like car washes and storage units instead of starter housing in heavily land use restrictive places like Santa Fe
Why so many car washes? We talked to Housing Advocate @danielwerwath.bsky.social and City Councilwoman Jamie Cassutt to learn what exactly "land use" is and why we should know something about it when it comes to the future of Santa Fe.

Just thinking of all the hoops you have to jump through to build or renovate affordable housing in the us
looking at the east wing of the white house and thinking about the hoops that, for example, home owners in historic districts have to jump through to make small renovations... like the disconnect is so wild. surely there's a good thread out there by a historic house expert but i haven't seen it yet

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.
