They took the fucking oath. They created this environment. They were OK entering Congress when Dems were being attacked by rightwingers, now they’re afraid even though the attacks have been against Dems _who continue to do their jobs_

Right, but other than whatever happened w Sunnunu (which I don’t even remember) it’s all been against Democrats. Two of their members were shot, & one was _murdered_, but Minnesota Democrats didn’t curl up in a ball & refuse to do their duties or honor their commitments.

I was thinking maybe some foreign official, VIP visiting the WH, etc.
Saw NG at the FDR Memorial the other day. They were reading the plaques & taking photos like the rest of the tourists.

It wasn’t clear what was going on. My guess was that someone had some kind of problem at the WH & needed to be choppered out to go wherever. I doubt anyone around us knew what had happened. Certainly the case that nobody was acting distressed; crowd was calm & mostly just wanted to cross the street

Took the kids to the Mall today. First time I’d seen uniformed USSS shut down an intersection on The Mall (17th & Constitution) so an ambulance could pull up to a waiting chopper.

Especially for people who don’t have the wealth to fly from overseas & stay in nice lodging, but who instead drive their cars hundreds & thousands of miles, stay in a motel or sleep in a tent, & want to see places that supposedly belong to all Americans.

There’s a lot of sadness on this trip, but it’s mitigated a bit by watching the cousins—who haven’t spent much time together—get along so well, & to see them explore. My daughter & the 4 year old in particular; my daughter is being great w the younger girl, & they are finding all kinds of fun stuff
