An amazing amount of work went into this bsky.app/profile/ucla... study/report/infomaps, etc on the damaging legacy of racist highway construction in communities and cities up and down the state.

I pulled off the rare Streetsblog hat trick, three different stories on three different Streetsblogs all in one day:

I'm working on a story on yesterday's appeals of the #MeasureHLA appeals in the City of Los Angeles and it's always infuriating the length the city will go to avoid making streets safer, even when the residents are begging and trying to legally require them to through ballot measures.

Cuomo could have slunk away after his humiliation in the primary, decided to come back for another shot, and somehow found even lower ground to sink to. Which is honestly an accomplishment when your starting position is "sexual assaulter who killed everybody's grandma"

LA I’m begging you. No matter what happens in Toronto please do not “boo” the Canadian national anthem

I remember when we used to be a country of laws.

An ICE agent, who is being arrested for drunk driving and nearly killing his little kids & others, tries to stop the arrest by racially profiling the officers arresting him. Amazing to watch the courtesy given to him as he is belligerent and uncooperative

according to SFA, out of the 6000 bills that have passed his desk only 2 have been pocket signed. And they think those were probably accidents. so it doesn’t happen very often!

Mea cupla on me. I wrote in this piece that legislation the governor doesn't sign or veto receives a "pocket veto." While that's true in D.C. and New Jersey (where I once worked as a lobbyist), but not in California. If Newsom doesn't act on leg., it becomes law.

Looking forward to the Supreme Court ruling in the Spring that if the president thinks someone is guilty they are guilty.
If Comey is charged, keep this mind. 👇

Seems like charging Comey is more about retribution than justice.

My heart goes out to the students at Utah Valley State and Evergreen High School in Colorado more than anyone. Kids deserve to feel safe at school. It's a sign of how sick a society we are that we don't even try to give that to them.
