Hospitality businesses are rightly concerned about the Government's Business Rates proposals. I heard from Vicky Colclough of Joule's Brewery the very real impact of the Chancellor's lack of support for pubs. These damaging proposals need to be reversed now - and pubs need to know where they stand.

After more than a year of raising this issue, the dangerous synthetic drug Spice is still blatantly being sold to children online.

The Government must ensure Ofcom fully uses its powers under the Online Safety Act to prevent this, & if the current law cannot stop this then it must be strengthened.

We have a national crisis of illegal waste dumping. My experience in Kidlington showed the urgent need for reform with: a national strategy; a step-change in funding to go after criminals; a clear hotline to report incidents; rapid, joined-up response by agencies.

Reform and Nigel Farage should be ashamed to associate themselves with him.

Liberal Democrats are calling for an urgent rescue plan for NHS dentistry.

Our plan would introduce an emergency scheme to guarantee free dental checkups for children, new mothers, pregnant women and those on low incomes.

As the year ends I want to celebrate Bath’s small businesses which are vital to our city. Yet many face rising business rates & costs.

We @libdems.org.uk have long called for the unfair business rates system to be replaced. We need a system that supports businesses & encourages them to grow.

The Government has deliberately turned its back on the single most effective step it could take to kick-start growth and fill the £90 billion Brexit-shaped hole in the public finances.

We need a new Customs Union with the EU to get our economy growing.

But this does not fix the deep-rooted problems that exist.
