actually more games that hard lock the player would rule. i would actively really like this to happen. as a tangent, this is why i really like card games - you commit to a series of choices (deck selection/construction/plays/sideboard) and sometimes you just beef it. id love to see this in VG too!
a major issue with video games is that they produce a bunch of people who consider themselves brain geniuses for solving problems that were designed to be solvable. as a remedy, we should be making more games that are actively and irreconcilably hostile to the player. thank you

this is such an obvious game of bullshit and it makes me insane that anyone falls for it. weird how schools are no longer "meritocratic" when they are trying to attract more black and hispanic students, but are perfectly meritocratic when they're not.
like, this is one of those things that actually drives me a little crazy. dipshits will say that we want to return to the era when merit was what mattered. but when, exactly, was that? the 1970s? the 1980s? UVA only *became* meritocratic when it became a school for all Virginians.
