I like that Cyberpunk is kind of a shared set of ideas more than a genre. 'Hyperion' references "that cowboy Gibson," i.e. William Gibson, author of Neuromancer, who coined the term "cowboy" - a hacker who runs around in the matrix.

Rest in peace, Chuck Negron. Three Dog Night's music was before my time, but One has stuck with me since the first time I heard it. (In the Recess movie, of all places, when I was seven years old!)

A particularly great video from Tech Connections. I came for the solar panel talk, but stayed for the real talk.

(Virtual Boy does not appear in the epstein files, but Nintendo is mentioned in more than 80 documents (with respect to finances).

I have a photo app for organizing before and after photos for things, and after every photo, it says, "This looks blurry: Keep? Retake?"

Which is nice, except Keep Photo and Retake Photo SWITCH PLACES, so I constantly choose the wrong one.

When did I buy these LEDs?? Why???

(There are more important things going on in the world today, so: the term "light emitting diode" appears in at least thirteen of the Epstein files. It seems to be in documents about his jet and the construction of his properties. www.justice.gov/epstein/search)

The political reporting from Wired is amazing, in that it's as good as their other reporting, but it's about politics, which I never expected. It's what convinced me to subscribe.
Since last year, we’ve been reporting on ICE extensively. But every week brings new information, and it’s getting harder to keep track of what’s happening, let alone remember what’s already happened.

So here’s a quick thread to help.

If this is true, it’s staggering. You don’t outsource sensitive Pentagon IT to engineers sitting in China and call it “efficient.” Cost savings? No- that’s a national security self-own. Oversight failed, and it needs fixing fast. #CyberSecurity #NationalSecurity #China

I tried making okonomiyaki a few years ago. The cabbage wasn't chopped finely enough, but I had already mixed it with everything else, so I tried cutting it in the bowl. With a ceramic knife.

The bowl suddenly exploded! Glass and ceramics don't mix!

"According to the New York Times, the president told a campaign meeting last year that if it was up to Miller, there would only be 100 million people living in the US – and all of them would look like Miller."

There are 340 million citizens in the US.

There's a brief mention in Hyperion (1989) of orbital mirrors to give 24/7 light to plantations. The first time I heard about the idea was last year, because a company is trying to do it.

I'm finally reading Hyperion; it's great. The premise is that there's a mysterious creature made of metal spikes that likes killing people, but actually, it's just good storytelling.
