It's a wonderful opera and one in which I once played one of the dead wives, a non-singing role. I also helped with sound effects from backstage.
Béla Bartók's DUKE BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE, as adapted and directed by Leslie Megahey (SCHALCKEN THE PAINTER) for the BBC, 1988. Probably my favourite opera, and it was stumbling across the ending of this film that first turned me on to it.

I remain convinced this song is inspired by Nineteen Eighty-Four, though I haven't yet come across any mention of this possibility in a review or interview.

The beta reader loves the vampire novel's world and story, but suggests MANY revisions and much more research. I cannot see anyone publishing this and self-publishing seems not this introvert's path, so I continue to work on it but wonder if there is a point beyond the journey being the destination.
