Absolutely. It is not the fault of the athletes who are just following the rules. But equally, the incentive to exploit people with DSDs in these countries needs to be discouraged completely. But that's a separate issue.

It does make me happy to hear of men making room for trans athletes too, because most of the time we only hear about inclusion in women's sport. In my experience, most people just want fairness for both groups.

My mum asked me once just after I moved to Canada if I was warm enough. I said hell yeah, I’ve never been warmer (indoors).

Would it not be more instructive to name the women who missed out on the chance to compete instead because the female category included more than just female competitors? After all the male competition didn’t expand to include others, only the female. Should both categories not be equally inclusive?

I’ve listened to my dad, I understand his reasoning and I accept it (although I do not agree). The problem is vaccination is a universal issue, not an individual one and he is getting his info from the US which as we all know is all about the individual and has little regard for community.

I can’t be hypocritical. Both of my home countries also contain racists.

My dad is anti-vax. I mentioned this to him. I asked him last night if he would have made the choice to vaccinate his children and he refused to answer me, and got angry I would even ask. I just can’t get my head around parents who would jeopardise their kids’ health because of irrational beliefs.

We had a case at my school a quite a few years ago. I was not allowed to teach without proof of vaccination. As my records were in Australia it was just easier to get another dose through the school nurse so I did.
