Thinking only of Rosalind Franklin today, and what was stolen from her (and so many other female scientists alongside her).
Rosalind Franklin and the damage of gender harassment
Spurred by a recent report on sexual harassment in academia, our columnist revisits a historical case and reflects on what has changed—and what hasn’t

Anyone here uses the HTML output tag? It seems to be a nightmare to use. I don’t feel it’s worth using it :-/

I find this amusing because every website that I have designed was built in the browser because it’s a better demo rather than a static image.

But eh, I was always the odd one wouldn’t adapt 🤣

Confession: I don’t know React.

Reality: I know JavaScript.

Started The Witcher season four and after 8 minutes in, I had to stop. Something feels way off with it all as it feels like I’m watching a reboot.

There are some well known front end devs in the web industry and when I check out their sites, I get so annoyed at the typography and colour scheme.

One of them I had to slow down reading because of the headings was hard to read.

I’m fed up of complaining- I just want an accessible web.

Crazy to think I have been using the Internet since 1996 - first ISP was PIPEX then Demon Internet, first browser was Netscape / Mosaic.

All this was on Windows 3.1 on a 486sx33 with 8MB of RAM and 120mb HDD. Wild.

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Round corners diabolical nightmare continues in macOS 26 and look at web inspector at the bottom left where the command line is. Apple is not understanding the impact of this.

This is an absolute shambles of a design. How did Apple managed to think this is “cool” yet doesn’t relay the message that it’s hard to visualise?

macOS Tahoe continues to be an absolute shitshow and it eats the battery on my M3 MacBook Pro.

Ugh.

Make a note of this for the future of the world, do not become this person. Utterly dangerous… what is even going on?

Apple continues to muddle their product lineups with the new M5.

What an utter mess. None of it makes sense, heck when the M4 appeared. The MacBook Pro line up was sneakily changed. The base MBP mode didn’t have the pro chip.

Apple’s M5 dropped and probably be enough to power that Liquid Glass nonsense 😅

Really excited to see how Komorebi for the Mac will work out. I currently use aerospace, sketchybar, and borders.

@lgug2z.com is clearly one of these inspirational programmers. Check out his videos on YouTube too.

If accessibility is important for Apple, then why nobody in the team stood up and say “this doesn’t work, scrap the entire idea”

Everything in here is on point as I have experienced it all and the messaging with friends with a background that doesn’t work is spot on

Liquid Glass Is Cracked, and Usability Suffers in iOS 26
iOS 26’s visual language obscures content instead of letting it take the spotlight. New (but not always better) design patterns replace established conventions.

Time to downgrade macOS 15 - ‘26 Tahoe is officially the worst macOS version. It’s all about that silly Liquid Glass nonsense.

I see a lot of “we can help you with your ADHD, let me explain, I have ADHD, etc etc - click on this link so you can get yourself to get things done”

Everything is a paid for courses.

It’s unfair. Yes, I do know they have spent time on it to produce it yet money always guards it.

Remember these from the old days of the web?

“Best viewed on Netscape”
“Best viewed on Explorer”

Today’s version is probably “Best viewed on Chrome”.

(Well, there’s Safari on iPhones / iPads….)

Hey @syntax.fm - I saw the recent video youtu.be/0ZUkQF6boNg?... and stopped after a minute because of the repeated animation on the TV in the background that distracted me from reading the subtitles. I might have to watch it again to cover the tv with a small HTML div window 😅

Great read but the headings on the page made me feel sick because of the distorted look that I had to use Safari’s reader.
