I'm putting together a piece about how much investigative journalism actually costs. If you are an investigative journalist and you're willing to share (not for attribution) what you make and how many hours (years!) you put in, my DMs are open. Estimates fine, just want to get a sense of it.

Our failure as an industry to grasp how little people understood the difference between commentary and news is one of the biggest reasons trust in the industry has eroded. A network head seemingly not understanding this distinction is troubling.
News is not a “daily conversation.”

News is news.

If you want a daily conversation, go to your local coffee shop.

I've been tracking the spread of nonconsensual deepfakes on X for more than two years. Here's a timeline of how Musk's leadership allowed the practice to flourish from a once-underground market to a viral trend, with little recourse for victims or legal enforcement.

Day 3: They did not put my bag on its flight last night. Or at least American Airline’s absolutely awful customer service can’t tell if they did.
Update: It did indeed go to the wrong airport lololol
Day 2: My bag is in limbo after an airline swap and 3 flight changes. They think it will probably go to the right destination. This airport is a prison.

Mecha-hitler is allowing randos to essentially make softcore porn of other user’s pictures now, if you were wondering how things were going over there.

Super cool having a deepfake machine with the guardrails intentionally being stripped away.

Instead of all this filler content, Stranger Things should have just filmed the play full of important backstory that they still haven’t addressed in the show.

FB is utterly flooded with misinformation, AI junk and nonsense. On top of that its algorithm encourages argumentative behavior over positive engagement. Accounts sharing real information are already at a huge disadvantage. This would further disconnect, largely boomers, from access to reliable info
