Used to be a geologist.
I suspect that when some people bring up their perfect, omnipotent, omniscient version of god, they expect some kind of worship themselves for coming up with something so "admirable". They can't ask you to obey them, because you don't want to, but they bring up this prop to circumvent that.

COLD BLOODED MURDER: Here is a frame by frame account of a sadistic ICE Nazi who was looking for an excuse to murder Renee Nicole Good. Good was a legal observer who had been monitoring the Nazis in Minneapolis. 😳👇

Recently watched Horses' video on fascism while suffering a terrible fever. When he mentioned that the fascist state aims to replace supernatural belief as religion, I immediately thought of how Evangelical Christianity has burst like a dead bacteria. It was always disposable.

People being like, "But Venezuelans are happy about Maduro being gone!" have the memories of goldfish. IN 2003, the narrative was that Iraqis celebrated the U.S. invasion and capture of Saddam.

Whether they were happy or not, invading Iraq was still the wrong thing to do.

What we're seeing in Venezuela is from the same playbook used in Afghanistan, Nicaragua, and the school of the Americas.

It led to blowback when two national guard members were shot. I talk about the whole thing, using the CIA's own documents, here:

I actually really, really fucking hate it when people say shit like humans deserve to go extinct / animals are so much better and more deserving than humans

I'm sorry you don't have the emotional capacity or imagination necessary to appreciate the breadth of the human experience

I'm hardly original in saying this, but a lot of people are going to try to make this about whether Maduro being gone is good or bad as such, rather than the blatant violation of international and US law in a destabilizing act of aggression.

Don't fall for it.

This, combined with "vice signaling" (taking pride in antisocial behavior) has given us the reign of the Stupid Asshole, something most people are against, but can only be remedied if we're not too polite to talk about it
An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

The torture of being raised by a man that can only watch movies *once*, because of his obsession with novelty and refusal to engage significantly with anything beyond a first impression.
This is not only about movies.

The least interesting part about art is how neatly we have arranged the borders where we start acting dense about it.

As we start romanticizing art & community again, can we also romanticize writing as a communal activity instead of a elitist loner one?

I write best with friends. I love sharing messy WIPs. The most rewarding part of writing is getting to see other people's reactions to what I've made.

The key to good Trump impressions is that he doesn't actually want to talk, because he's a lazy slob. But he suddenly gets excited at the chance to prop himself up. Just slurring his words and dragging his tongue to deliver something half assed until he can mention his greatness.

Ah, I see. Drawing their borders as they actually see them.
Curse them all. May America one day just be a bad memory, only brought up when hanging thieves and barons.
I'm not sure if people realize the murder strikes are taking place across a large region. It's quite staggering.
