Flat earthers and young earth creationists are not just silly fools who believe stupid stuff. They are malignant thieves who purposefully attack consistent bodies of knowledge that threaten their naturalist fallacies, that would expose them as abusive leaders, parents, and partners.

Absurdity facilitates abuse. They undermine people's understanding of reality to justify hierarchy and unfair transactions; the promise of spiritual rewards in exchange for material tributes is a classic. And it gets rephrased in corporate and political environments.
