I'm heading over to City Hall to attend the city council meeting about ICE and what it means to be a sanctuary city, I'll try to live tweet the meeting from 230-430.

Earlier, federal agents shot a protester in the eye. Vincent is an ER nurse and said he came to the protest at the ICE facility in South Portland after a shift. Other protesters called an ambulance for him, but he had to walk several blocks to meet it, due to the munitions still flying.

It really is as bad as it looks. Utter madness.
Hey it turns out we're getting rid of the CIA.

"The Central Intelligence Agency offered buyouts to its entire workforce Tuesday, in what officials said is a bid to bring the agency in line with President Trump’s priorities, including targeting drug cartels."

While I did receive a call from the Mayor at 7:30 in the morning about this, I was informed the LUCS would be approved within the hour. I hadn’t even gotten to City Hall yet.

@councilorgreen.bsky.social and I kept Mayor Wilson up to date on our Zenith resolution constantly, to be good partners.
This was non-transparent, even to Councilors - I found out through this press release.

This is not good governance.

Portlanders deserve open processes. You did not receive one on the LUCS. An open process doesn't mean any specific outcome, but it would have been more transparent.

Hopefully @pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social @mitchgreen.bsky.social @councilorkanal.bsky.social and others will release a statement about this!
Public records obtained by Street Roots show Zenith Energy wants to vastly expand its operations to position itself as "the renewable fuels hub" in the West—a much larger project than has been made publicly available. Environmental and community advocates want transparency from the city of Portland.

So the real question for the blue sky people, is when do we get to restart #gatoradewars over here and do any of you remember that?

Final note for today.

If you want to blame someone for Portland getting robbed of the chance to see @candaceavalos.bsky.social as council president, blame Steve Novick and @elanapirtle-guiney.bsky.social. it sure looks like EPG voted for her ego, certainly not diversity, equity, and inclusion.

this city council meeting may be agonizing but can we all just take a minute and reflect on how neither rene gonzales nor sam adams is there shitting it up

So thinking about today's vote, seems important to remember that someone had to be president, and that no individual councilor must agree to be that president. Prog options: SK, TKL, AM, MG, JD, CA. Avalos wasn't acceptable, so AM prob not either. Leaves TKL, MG, and JD.
