The truth about the "hard men" of football is that almost all of their acts of violence on the pitch are/were committed on players who never had a chance to defend themselves. Tackles from behind. Elbows to the face. Studs raking the achilles. Cowardice is at the heart of the macho posturing.

That’s a disgusting foul from Delap. In my mind that’s red. Super dangerous.

My god that goal was delicious. What a thrill for Gabriel Jesus. All those endless days of rehab. Imagine how wonderful it feels for him. 😍

Watkins' miss (0.65 xG) is the most dangerous shot Arsenal have allowed this season in terms of xG value. It is the first time across all competitions they have allowed a shot worth more than 0.5 xG.

Richarlison taking his shirt off after getting a deflection?

In tears in another 5 minutes?

It's the history of the Tottenham.

Arsenal have got a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD, Max Dowman, on. He is the first ever person to play in the Champions League about whom you can say definitively he was never in a Woolworth's.

Wesley Fofana has more points on his licence than Chelsea have earned when he starts for the Blues in the Premier League (46).
Chelsea have spoken with Wesley Fofana after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and ordered to do 300 hours of unpaid community service.

The club do not get involved in all of their players’ issues but felt it was important to speak to Fofana.

new CL format is probably good if (a) you follow one participating club, as they play a wider range of teams or (b) if you want to red-zone it as there's so much going on. But for the increasingly rare (c) "just want to sit down and watch a good game where you know what's at stake" it's quite dull

I know there was a problem in the old format with dead rubbers, but that was fine! I'd just watch another game! There was almost always something that felt really big. Now there's loads of games and I just don't really know - literally, I don't really know - how meaningful they are.

notwithstanding the fact the Slavia player also had his foot high, for a second I thought the ref was going to punish Ben White for a high foot (but no contact) in the box which is an INDIRECT FREE-KICK and not a penalty, one of the great niche elements of football

Highlight of the half for me was Burnley attempting two long throws, both being easily won by Gabriel, the second of which led to our second goal. You think set-pieces are your ally?

Saturday will be 25 games. The longest run of games ever since Oliver first officiated in the Premier League is 30 games without him in charge of the Gunners.

Chelsea & Spurs coming up 😨
Arsenal are on a run of 15 Premier League games without having Michael Oliver as the referee for their match since he sent off Myles Lewis-Skelly vs Wolves.

This is their 2nd longest run in the last five years after a 24-match run following his dismissal of Martinelli for two yellows also v Wolves.
