Yeah he's gone bad in his dotage but in his pomp, he was an absolute unqualified genius. I got a Marvel UK annual of the Cap stories in 1982, when I was 7, and I had never seen anything like it.

Still one of Fincher’s best for me. Though it’s never looked as amazing as it did on that initial cinema
Release when they used silver retention to deepen the contrast and the blacks just about hummed off the screen.

It was shot in LA, feels like New York throughout but then they drive out into desert/scrub at the climax - so a sort of generic Anycity.

“Then I woke up.” Pretty bleak. Faithful to McCarthy, whose vision is a lot darker than the Coens, but funny in a weirdly similar way.

There was an editorial to a '90s issue of (the ace) Mojo Magazine that made the case that if you liked Rock music, but claimed to dislike the Beatles, you were doing it out of pure contrarianism or to get attention. Which felt true then and still feels true now. Me & my Gen-X mates loved them.
