Basic media literacy: there are multiple clips out there showing this shooting, mostly up close and unobstructed (except by the car itself). Trump’s social media post includes a clip from far away, through trees, and slowed to super slow motion.

Those are *choices*

Worth thinking about how long Tolkien goes on in Return of the King about despair being a weapon, and presenting defeat as a forgone conclusion being a deliberate and effective tactic

BREAKING: ICE killed a Minnesota woman in broad daylight & there must be accountability.

But when I moved to subpoena all records & footage related to this murder, Republicans voted it down.

They've never cared about law & order or keeping our communities safe.

I am absolutely gutted at this news, and I've never even met him. The stories of people who worked beneath him, as well as the incredible games he shipped, show the industry has lost a titanic force of good.

Cory Doctorow : "We need to make tech workers unionized again ...  because tech workers that aren't working behind a keyboard, those tech workers, they're peeing in bottles or being injured at 3x the national rate in an Amazon warehouse. That's how tech bosses treat workers they're not afraid of."

The Cognitive Trade-Off Hypothesis by Viagra Boys is probably my favorite song about evolutionary theory of human development. Which is saying something given how crowded popular music is with similar songs about how predators shaped our ancestors' need for language to survive.

I just signed a memo saying the @nytimes.com has been on a mission to normalize fascism by leaving out pertinent facts in stories about Trump. Such as: Trump's actions here are illegal. There's nothing to equivocate about.
President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

Trump is ordering pregnant women and young children to stop taking pain and fever reliever. It’s a cruel, needless strategy to inflict pain, suffering, illness, anxiety, and social stigmatization. It’s also already given conservatives a new way to blame women for societal problems.

I love it when students ask to talk after class.

I *extra* love it when they do so for personal reasons, like asking for First Person Shooter game recommendations 💥🔫

As in, they just don't serve Guinness, period. Yes, they served other alcoholic beers on tap.

"but we can't support trans rights, it's unpopular!"

just a reminder that US approval for marriage between black and white people at the start of the civil rights movement was 4%, reaching a whopping 20% by the end of the movement

it's 95% now

you don't wait for popularity for a rights movement
