Did some sketches of my nephews's current favorite Pokemon for their birthdays. Left uncolored so the boys could do it themselves, if they want!

I can't with this guy

Should I be writing? Absolutely. But these brownies won't bake themselves!

I grew up reading the Redwall books. I was lucky enough to attend several readings by the author, Brian Jacques, who was an enthusiastic storyteller. I still remember him giving a full-throated "Eulalia!" battlecry in a small bookstore. He taught me how powerful stories can be. A true inspiration.

I got Romance of the Three Kingdoms in high school, when I learned that Dynasty Warriors was based on the books, which are in turn a romantic retelling of history! It's the oldest story to use a chapter format, and has a fun quirk where every chapter ends with a question and asks you to keep reading

Hyperion by Dan Simmons (and its three sequels) are huge inspirations to me! They were my gateway drug to not just science fiction, but also poetry (since Keats' body of work is integral to the story) and Buddhist philosophy (in the latter two books). Highly, highly recommended to everyone!

How am I to be productive writing with this little guy next to me?

Currently reading: Machine by Susan Steinberg. Never before have I read a book that makes me wait 19 pages for a period, but I'm here for it.

I cannot think of a better first post than a Smokey Appreciation Post. Here's my boy in most of his glory
