When the marginalised are targeted in our city, we organise against fascists. Migrants, refugees, new communities, racialised minorities, religious minorities, queer, trans .. whoever. No matter who the fascists are and who they align with.

Belfast is antifascist.

This week has been a good reminder of this April 1934 headline. Communists and Jews in Belfast disrupt a fascist rally in Library Street. Belfast will always be an antifascist city. We keep showing up for each other to defeat fascism even if the police & state backs it. [1/n]

April 2023, always antifascist.

The big question is who is funding her? US Evangelical anti-abortion network funding linked to MAGA & European far-right is flowing to everywhere these anti-rights voices pop up. @corporatewatch.bsky.social followed evangelical anti-abortion money & it's already on streets of Britain & Ireland.

Fascism 101.

Judith Butler: ‘If you sacrifice a minority like trans people, you are operating within a fascist logic’.

Yep!

Exactly this. Hold racists like Labour’s Mike Tapp to account.

As UK Gov disgrace themselves even further by attacking the very people the U.K. should be protecting, the ordinary people of Belfast were out in solidarity with an impacted family. Another racist far-right attack on women & children in Belfast. This white supremacist hate is on Starmer & Mahmood.

If anyone is still a member of Labour, this is on you. Resign.

Even while LGBTQ+ members were kept in the dark about their protected characteristics being breached, Prospect went to the TUC in 2025 and instructed its delegates NOT to vote in support of a motion on supporting trans and non-binary workers. [7/n]

Prospect Union has failed to answer questions on this. Gender identity questions were included in equality data recording.

In 2024, responsibility equalities transferred to a senior leadership team member. The Annual Report from 2024 detail salaries. [5/n]

A further concern: were people's gender identity details leaked too? Gender Recognition Act 2004 protects the privacy of transgender individuals by making it a criminal offence to disclose "protected information" about a person's gender recognition status or past gender without their consent. [4/n]

The Information Commissioner's Office states that 'If the breach is likely to result in a high risk of adversely affecting individuals’ rights and freedoms, you must also inform those individuals without undue delay.'

There was almost a four month delay. [4/n]

In 2024, Prospect's motion to the TUC LGBT+ Conference highlighted the dangers of overseas working for LGBTQ+ people:

'Refusing to travel could put careers at risk... turning down paying jobs, reducing future prospects. Agreeing to travel could put lives at risk.' [3/n]

This film shows why union membership is kept private. Blacklisting workers & targeting reps is real. For Prospect Union & Bectu sector to allow members, reps, equality, financial & case handling data to be compromised, why did it take 4 months to come clean on this IT scandal?

The hearty cheers from Labour Party conference attendees at Reeves shutting down a cry to end the genocide will go down in history as the point where Labour rank and file effectively endorsed mass slaughter.

A conference of thinly veiled far-right propaganda, only thing missing is Leni Riefenstahl.

Yesterday's news report on Irvine. It was only once documents were made public by investigative journalists that his supposed 'peace' role & character references that secured below minimum sentencing came to light.

At that point, PPS had no other choice than to appeal the below minimum sentence.

This 1930s cartoon from Artists International Association (AIA) should sound alarm bells for today. Welfare and local authority cuts breed fascism. Fascinating article on How Artists Resisted Fascism a Century Ago. As always, artists were the 'bell on the fire engine'.

Before rebranding to the PSNI, its former iteration - the RUC was found to have engaged in collusion with loyalist paramilitaries. Both loyalist paramilitary groups are riddled with active state agents. What level of collusion is involved right now? How high does it go? [7/7]

An important motion coming up in today's TUC Congress in Brighton. TUC General Secretary's speech yesterday spoke of taking 'a stand for solidarity, against division and for a world where everyone can live thrive and work in peace.'
