A lysergic picture postcard now from a band called Simples from the Midlands, who recorded 'Carry On Simples' in 1989 and (as far as I know) never released it. If you like Syd and The Television Personalities, you'll LOVE this. #freshingredients

For the last few years I've been trying to find out more about Nitro Deluxe and this claim that he played with Sun Ra, but so far nothing. Someone out there must know something beyond the same sentence on his Discogs and various other pages www.discogs.com/artist/3130-...

A wee nod to the Bard, on what would have been his 267th birthday.

Burns Howff was a rock and blues music venue in Glasgow. It was located at 56 West Regent St in the city centre and established a reputation as the launch pad for many Scottish musicians.

A final post for Burn's night. Despite being written over 200 years ago, much of Burns' work remains relevant today, and examples of it can be found it all sorts of places around Glasgow.

1. Time to review With The Beatles. I listened carefully to the 2009 Stereo mix from the CD box set and the 2025 Mono re-release. It's November 1963 and Beatlemania is sweeping across the UK. The album rocketed up the charts and stayed at the top into 1964. Stereo V Mono - here we go!

Joseph 'Jah' Earlocks only recorded a handful of tunes. This one under the name Rising Fire is an impassioned anti-apartheid deep roots classic.

This 12" version also extends into a thunderous dub mixed by Scientist...

I find it so helpful to turn to my scrapbook of Things I Very Much Love when times get a touch bleak. Not for nostalgia, which I loathe. But just to remind myself that really good things can be found wherever & whenever you look. It helps to remind me of who I am. Even from a trying year like 1977.
